First Look at Last ‘Family Guy’ Spoof of ‘Star Wars’

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

The “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi!” jab which “Family Guy” would do later this season has been given a preview. The family’s matriarch Lois is dressed up in the iconic Princess Leia slave bikini while her son Chris poses as Luke Skywalker beside her.

Called “Family Guy: It’s a Trap!”, the final chapter will follow Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia who must travel to Tatooine to free Han Solo (Peter) by infiltrating the wretched stronghold of Jabba the Hutt (Joe), the galaxy’s most loathsome and dreadful gangster. Once reunited, the Rebels team up with a tribe of Ewoks to combat the Imperial forces on the forest moon of Endor.

Meanwhile the Emperor (Carter Pewterschmidt) and Darth Vader (Stewie) conspire to turn Luke to the dark side, and young Skywalker is determined to rekindle the spirit of the Jedi within his father. The Galactic Civil War has never been more outrageous, as the Rebel forces gather to attack the seemingly defenseless and incomplete second Death Star in the battle that will determine the fate of the galaxy.

The DVD version hits stores on December 21 while the broadcast version is expected to air later this season on FOX.

“Family Guy: Blue Harvest”, the first “Star Wars” spoof gained recognition at Emmy Awards back in 2005. Last year, the Seth MacFarlane animation debuted the second installment “Family Guy: Something, Something, Something Dark Side”.

Star Wars” jokes are also being developed for “Robot Chicken” by Seth Green but they avoid to have similar tones. “We’re covering all the same topics without overlapping each other,” Green told MTV at the NY Comic Con. “We’re telling jokes about the same stuff but we’re not telling the same jokes.” The “Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III” will air December 12 on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim.

‘Family Guy’ Writers Sign Three-Year Deal with Fox

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

In this economy of fewer and fewer long-term showbiz deals, writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild have found nirvana at 20th Century Fox TV. They’ve both been there since 2004, when the studio decided to raise ‘Family Guy‘ from the rerun graveyard, and now they’ve signed a three-year pact with the studio, according to Variety. Wow, they have something few writers do — job stability.

“[20th Century has] always been supportive,” says Sulkin. “We’ve had a home at 20th for a long time now, longer than most people work at most places.”

With this new contract, the writing duo continues to work on ‘Family Guy‘ and will also develop their own show. Right now, it looks like it will be a live-action comedy.

“[Sulkin and Wild are] uniquely funny, which is why Seth MacFarlane responded so well to them,” says Gary Newman, chairman of Twentieth Century Fox TV.

Although the duo says they’re not ruling out animation in the future, it is a bit surprising they’re not focusing on that development angle first. Not only have they had success writing it, but they’ve also voiced characters on the show. Sulkin, especially, is a voice talent, doing numerous characters on ‘Family Guy’ and now ‘The Cleveland Show.’

However, Sulkin and Wild did write on ‘The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.’ Maybe Fox has them brainstorming a late show since Conan O’Brien is headed to TBS? After all, they couldn’t do any worse than ‘The Chevy Chase Show.’
